From TechTerms:
Encryption is the process of converting data to an unrecognizable or "encrypted" form. It is commonly used to protect sensitive information so that only authorized parties can view it. This includes files and storage devices, as well as data transferred over wireless networks and the Internet.
Encrypting the hard drive on your computer is another layer of protection to protect your data. This helps to prevent any unauthorized user or process from accessing your data whether they have gotten physical access to your computer or via software, such as malware. Check out the linked article to learn how to encrypt your drive.

Image from How-To Geek
Each week we will address a frequently asked question. This week we are looking at what a network/ethernet cable is.
If you’ve ever shopped for home networking, there is an excellent chance you have heard about Ethernet cables. But what are they for, why would you want to use them, and how do they differ?

It gives your device access to a local network or the internet. Although Wi-Fi has become a very common way of connecting to the internet, an Ethernet cable can provide a faster and more stable internet connection than wireless currently can.
If you are familiar with the older telephone cord and Ethernet cable just looks like a larger telephone cord.
